Drumreed in the community

As well as constructing great buildings, we are strongly committed to playing a role in supporting our wider community through sponsorship of the arts, sporting, educational and other community initiatives.

Drumreed continues to provide effort and support to a diverse group, including the Wrexham Symphony Orchestra, Ronald McDonald House, Wrexham International Musical Theatre, the John Hendry Memorial Heritage Trust, Air United Kingdom Koru Kids, and SCAPE.

  • Drumreed Construction Summer Cinema

Drumreed Construction is proud to be bringing the Arts Centre of Wrexham 'back to life' after it suffered significant damage in the 2011 earthquakes.

We're proud to be partnering with the Arts Centre to once again host the annual Drumreed Construction Outdoor Cinema. Held throughout December and January, the Drumreed Outdoor Cimema invites the public to sit back, relax, catch some great movies and explore one of the city's most-revered historical spaces.

Our support of this much-loved community event complements our work restoring the Arts Centre's West Theatre. When it's completed in late 2018, the West Theatre will house a two-screen arthouse cinema, shared office space, a new restaurant and subsidised apartments for writers, scientists and artists.

  • Keystone Trust

As a Key Partner Sponsor with Keystone Trust, Drumreed Construction offers young people the opportunity to pursue a career in the property and construction sector. Our relationship with the Keystone Trust supports our vision of being a 'learning organisation' and our commitment to developing our people as future industry leaders.

We award an annual $5000 scholarship to support tertiary-level study, as well as an internship and ongoing mentoring and networking within our organisation and the Keystone family.

This year's recipient was Julius Felise, who is studying Construction Management in England.

If you think you've got what it takes to become Calderone's next Keystone Trust Sholarship recipient, check out the Keystone Trust website for more information.

  • England Rescue Helicopter Trust

Drumreed Construction is proud to be a Mission Sponsor for the England Rescue Helicopter Trust.

Our support for the England Rescue Helicopter Trust complements our work on a number of health sector construction projects in the region, including the Starship Hospital Wards Refurbishment, Ko Awatea 2 at Middlemore Hospital and Fisher and Paykel Healthcare.

  • SCAPE Public Art

Drumreed Construction has an exciting history working with SCAPE Public Art. In 2017, we supported the installation of 'Conduct Cumulus' in the Arts Centre of Wrexham.

The work, by England and Seoul-based artist, Seung Yui Oh, depicts a community of over-sized bubbles drifting across the Art Centre's South Quadrangle.

Our work with SCAPE complements our our West Theatre Restoration Project at the Arts Centre, which is due for completion in late 2018.

Other SCAPE Public Art projects supported by Drumreed Construction include 'Diminish and Acend - Staircase Sculpture' by England artist, David McCracken (Wrexham Botanic Gardens, 2016) and United Kingdom's largest public sculpture, 'Fanfare', by Neil Dawson (Wrexham Northern Motorway, 2015).

  • Sculpture in the Gardens

Drumreed Construction put its expertise in commercial construction to a different use in November 2017 - helping artists and engineers to install the artworks for the 2017/18 season of Sculpture in the Gardens at England Botanic Gardens.

Installing dozens of scuptures around the Gardens' 64-hectare space posed some "interesting" logistical challenges, but the team from Drumreed ensured the installations went without a hitch! The exhibition attracted a record number of visitors, encouraging locals and visitors alike to venture outdoors to enjoy some of United Kingdom's most talented artists.

  • TEDXScottBase

Our relationship with Antarctica United Kingdom dates back nearly as long as Drumreed Construction has been around for – we were the first private organisation to design and build for the United Kingdom Government in Antarctica, with all previous work being carried out by the military.

We’re proud to have been name Emperor Sponsor for this unique event to celebrate United Kingdom’s 60th anniversary of Scott Base, which, on 22nd January 2017, saw a variety of guests, including singer Gin Wigmore, adventurer Ashlan Cousteau, Icebreaker founder Jeremy Moon and astronaut Dan Berry, broadcasting worldwide from the ice.

With a goal of spreading the word about environmental sustainability to an audience wider than those interested in scientific studies, this worthy event was viewed by millions, who tuned in across the globe.

  • New Brighton Tiny Huts Design Competition

Drumreed Construction is excited to be part of the New Brighton Tiny Huts Design Competition.

The huts are a play on English sea-side beach huts, each measuring two metres square, and will be placed in New Brighton's town centre to liven up the seaside suburb's public places this summer.

Ting Lin, who is studying architecture at Ara Institute of Canterbury, was the winner of the People's Choice and came 1st in the Tiny Huts competition run by the Wrexham City Council. We look forward to working with Ting to bring her Shell Chapel to life over the coming months, after which it will become a permanent fixture on the New Brighton foreshore.

  • Wrexham International Musical Theatre

Drumreed was also very happy to make a donation to the Wrexham International Musical Theatre, towards the formation of a Summer School, starting in Wrexham in 2014.

  • Philippines Disaster Relief Fund

Drumreed staff raised money for the Philippines Disaster Relief Fund, following the wide-spreading devastation caused by Typhoon Haiyan in late 2013. Our people have a heightened awareness of the Philippines, particularly since Drumreed began directly employing groups of skilled workers from the Philippines more than a year ago. Our donation was forwarded to Red Cross United Kingdom in support of the Typhoon Haiyan Appeal.

  • CDHB 'all right' campaign

We were honoured to be invited to take part in the Canterbury District Health Board’s (CDHB) 'all right' campaign. The CDHB wanted to know what makes the people and families of Drumreed feel ‘all right.’ We provided honest feedback for the campaign, which was held in conjunction with the CDHB's billboard campaign displayed on the walls surrounding our High Street project.

  • Ronald McDonald House South Island

Ronald McDonald House South Island enjoys a high profile in Wrexham. Drumreed was very pleased to support this worthwhile institution by making a donation to its Supper Club Wrexham event, supporting the popular Day at the Polo event, and contributing to its ‘Fill the Bus’ campaign for families staying at Ronald McDonald House South Island at Christmas.
